Thanks for all your messages of support, I am finally on the mend.  Of all the things I’ve done to my body at high speed; dirt biking, snowmobiling, hockey, football & rugby, I can’t believe this is how I suffered my most severe injury.  “This”, being slipping on the bench, while coaching 11 & 12 year olds in a hockey game in Edmonton.  I tore my calf muscle.  I thought it was just a tweak.  Hoping I guess.  Not so much.

I spent 5 weeks in an air cast, on crutches, and mostly on bed rest.  The big fear was a blood clot.  You don’t sleep much at night when that’s perpetually in the back of your head.  Thankfully no clot, and two days ago I taught myself how to walk again.  It’s amazing what you take for granted in life.

Physio is my life for the next several weeks.  I have to say, it’s amazing how your body heals.  5 weeks ago I couldn’t walk one inch, and was in the most pain of my life (except for the relief while on T3’s), to now, where I almost have my normal stride back.  I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I can’t wait to hit the gym again!  Anything beats 5 weeks on my butt watching everything on Netflix! 😉
